Life's eternal question # 1: "Is a piña colada better with light or dark rum?" In our opinion the answer is: "Both Rums!", if made with the proper technique. A correctly made Piña Colada is blended with a premium "Light Rum" (for it's light and refreshing flavor). After blending, pour the mixture into a suitable container with a straw already in the container. Then, and only then, a full ounce of Dark Rum is carefully "floated" on the surface. (The "floater" gives it a "Wallop-Effect", and a sweet strong taste at the end of the drink.) Daytime drinking instructions: - Drink with the straw penetrating and remaining in the bottom of the glass. - Do not stir with the straw! (Stirring destroys the "visual effect" of layering and stirring will destroy the separation of flavors. Stirring also shows the bartender that you don't care how wonderfully he floated the Dark Rum!) - Suck till the slurping noise comes from the container. - Stop sucking! (People are running over to see what's going on! ) - Order another. "Thank" the bartender, and begin again! Note: Some prefer to raise the bottom of the straw and start from the top of the liquid (called the "Reverse Straw Technique!"), ... Very acceptable, if you want a "reverse flavor effect." Nighttime drinking instructions: - Remove the straw. - Drink the "top half" of the liquid straight out of the glass. - Stop! - Ask the bartender to float another shot of Dark Rum on the surface. - "Thank" the bartender. - Consume the remainder of the liquid. (We call this the "Double-Wallop-Effect!) - Wipe the residue off your upper lip. - Start again. !!!Warning!!!
